Abishua was the son of Phinehas and grandson of Eleazar, who served as high priests in the line of Aaron.
Abishua was the son of Phinehas and great-grandson of Aaron, serving in the high-priestly line of Israel (1 Chronicles 6:4–5, 50; Ezra 7:5). As the father of Bukki, he forms a link in the priestly genealogy that connects the Aaronic priesthood of the wilderness period to the post-exilic restoration under Ezra. The Phinehas-Abishua line was particularly honored because Phinehas had demonstrated zealous covenant fidelity at Baal-peor (Numbers 25:7–13). Abishua is known solely from these genealogical references and plays no active role in any narrative episode.
