Ben-hur was one of Solomon's twelve officers over Israel.
Ben-hur ('son of Hur') was the first of Solomon's twelve district governors listed in 1 Kings 4:8, responsible for the hill country of Ephraim. Each governor managed one of the twelve administrative districts of Israel and supplied provisions for the royal court for one month annually. Ben-hur's district in the Ephraimite highlands was among the most densely populated and strategically central regions of the northern kingdom.
