Birsha was the king of Gomorrah when Chedorlaomer and his allies invaded the region.
Birsha was the king of Gomorrah who allied with four other Canaanite city-state kings to fight against the eastern coalition led by Chedorlaomer of Elam (Genesis 14:2). The battle in the Valley of Siddim ended in disaster for the five Canaanite kings, with Birsha and his ally the king of Sodom fleeing into bitumen pits. The defeat led to the capture of Lot and the subsequent intervention by Abraham. Birsha's name has sometimes been interpreted as a symbolic designation meaning 'in wickedness.'
