Ben-Deker was one of Solomon's twelve officers in charge of providing food for the king and his household.
Deker was the father of Ben-deker, one of Solomon's twelve district governors responsible for administering the region of Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth-shemesh, and Elon-beth-hanan (1 Kings 4:9). The district provided provisions for the royal court for one month each year. Deker himself is known only as the father of this Solomonic official, his name preserved through his son's administrative title.
