Ela

Ela was a royal official under Solomon, listed in 1 Kings 4:18 as the father of Shimei, who administered the district of Benjamin as one of Solomon's twelve regional governors. Each governor was responsible for providing provisions for the royal court for one month of the year. Ela himself held no known office but is preserved in the record through his son's appointment to this important administrative post.
