Old Testament

Poratha, one of the ten sons of Haman, who was hanged along with his brothers after their father's downfall.

Poratha was the fifth of the ten sons of Haman the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews in the book of Esther. After Haman's execution, Poratha and his brothers were killed by the Jews of Susa on the fourteenth of Adar as part of the Jews' authorized defense against their enemies (Esther 9:8). Esther then requested that the bodies of Haman's ten sons be publicly displayed, and this was executed by royal decree (Esther 9:13–14). Poratha appears only in this single passage.
