Spiritual Gifts
Supernatural abilities given by the Holy Spirit to believers for building up the church. First Corinthians 12:4-11 lists nine gifts: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, distinguishing spirits, tongues, and interpretation. Romans 12:6-8 adds serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leading, and mercy. Ephesians 4:11 identifies gifted persons: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Peter summarizes: 'Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace' (1 Peter 4:10). Gifts are distributed by the Spirit 'as he determines' (1 Corinthians 12:11).
