'All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.' The Great Commission begins not with a command but a claim: universal authority in both cosmic and earthly spheres has been given to the risen Christ. The allusion to Daniel 7:14 — 'there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages should serve him' — is unmistakable: Jesus's resurrection is the enthronement of Daniel's Son of Man. The commission that follows ('go therefore') is grounded in this authority: disciples go as ambassadors of the universally reigning Lord, not as representatives of a local or limited power.
