Old Testament

Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz, was one of King Saul's wives.

Ahinoam daughter of Ahimaaz was the wife of King Saul and the mother of Jonathan, Ishvi, Malchishua, Merab, and Michal (1 Samuel 14:49–50). As Saul's primary queen she held the most prominent position among Israelite women during the first monarchy. Her father Ahimaaz may be the same man who served as a district governor under Solomon, though the chronology is difficult. Ahinoam should not be confused with Ahinoam of Jezreel, who became one of David's wives and the mother of Amnon (1 Samuel 25:43). Beyond the genealogical notice, no further details of Saul's wife's life are recorded.
