Azaz, a descendant of Reuben, was the father of Bela (1Ch.5.8).
Azaz was a descendant of Reuben, Jacob's firstborn son, and the father of Bela according to the genealogical records of 1 Chronicles 5:8. He is placed among the Reubenite leaders who settled in the Transjordanian territory during the period of the Divided Monarchy. His name means 'strong' or 'mighty,' and though no individual deeds are recounted, his inclusion in the tribal record preserves the heritage of Israel's firstborn tribe east of the Jordan.
