Bazluth

Old Testament

Bazluth (Bazlith) was the ancestor of a family of temple servants who returned from Babylonian captivity.

Bazluth (also spelled Bazlith) was the ancestor of a family of Nethinim who returned from Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel's company (Ezra 2:52; Nehemiah 7:54). The variant spellings of the name across these parallel lists reflect the textual transmission history of the post-exilic registers. Like other Nethinim ancestral names, Bazluth designates a priestly-support clan whose descendants resumed their temple service upon returning to the land.
