Habazziniah was the grandfather of Jaazaniah, a leader of the Rechabites during Jeremiah's time.
Habazziniah was the grandfather of Jaazaniah, one of the leaders of the Rechabite community tested by Jeremiah in a famous episode recorded in Jeremiah 35:3. The Rechabites, famous for their strict adherence to their ancestor Jonadab's commands against wine-drinking and permanent settlement, used their faithfulness as a model for Judah's unfaithfulness to God. Habazziniah's family name is preserved as the patriarchal head of this community at the time of the Babylonian crisis.
