Old Testament

Hirah was an Adullamite who was a close friend of Judah, the son of Jacob.

Hirah was an Adullamite who served as a close companion of Judah, the son of Jacob, in the period of the patriarchs (Genesis 38:1, 12, 20). It was near Hirah's home that Judah met and married a Canaanite woman, an event with significant genealogical consequences. Hirah later acted as Judah's intermediary when Judah attempted to send payment to Tamar, his daughter-in-law, through him. His friendship with Judah provides a window into the social interactions between the patriarchal family and the Canaanite inhabitants of the land.
