Old Testament

Jehohanan was a Levite gatekeeper during the reign of King David.

Jehohanan was a Levite, a son of Meshelemiah the Korahite, appointed as a gatekeeper for the sanctuary during the reign of King David (1 Chronicles 26:3). He was one of seven sons of Meshelemiah listed in this passage, all of whom received assignments at the gates of the temple. The name Jehohanan ('the Lord is gracious') was widely used in ancient Israel and is shared by numerous individuals across the Old and New Testaments, including the high priest mentioned in Nehemiah 12:22–23.
