Old Testament

Jotham was a son of Jahdai, who was a wife of Caleb.

Jotham was the eleventh king of Judah, son of Uzziah, who served as co-regent during his father's leprosy before reigning outright around 750–735 BC. He is commended as doing 'what was right in the eyes of the LORD,' strengthening the temple's upper gate and building extensively in the hill country of Judah (2 Kings 15:34–35; 2 Chronicles 27:3–4). He campaigned successfully against the Ammonites and exacted tribute from them for three years (2 Chronicles 27:5). The prophets Isaiah, Micah, and Hosea ministered during his reign. The biblical text notes that 'the people continued to act corruptly' despite his personal faithfulness, suggesting a disconnect between royal piety and popular religion in this period (2 Chronicles 27:2).
