Kenaz

Kenaz was a son of Elah and grandson of Caleb from the tribe of Judah, listed in 1 Chronicles 4:15 among the descendants of Caleb son of Jephunneh. A more prominent Kenaz appears in the Edomite genealogies as a son of Eliphaz and grandson of Esau (Genesis 36:11), whose name was given to the Kenizzites—the ancestral clan of Caleb (Numbers 32:12) and the judge Othniel. The recurrence of the name across Israelite and Edomite lineages reflects the complex ethnic relationships between these neighboring peoples.
