Mahseiah was the grandfather of Baruch, Jeremiah's scribe.
Mahseiah was the grandfather of Baruch, Jeremiah's scribe, and of Seraiah, the quartermaster who carried Jeremiah's oracle against Babylon (Jeremiah 32:12; 51:59). His son Neriah fathered both of these important figures in the Jeremianic tradition. Mahseiah is identified in Jeremiah 32:12 as part of Baruch's genealogy, anchoring the scribal family in a respectable lineage. He is known exclusively through his distinguished descendants.
