Meonothai

Tribe of Judah · H4587
Old Testament

Meonothai, son of Othniel, mentioned in the genealogy of Judah.

Meonothai was a son of Othniel, the first judge of Israel, and the father of Ophrah, listed in the genealogy of Judah in 1 Chronicles 4:13–14. His grandfather was Kenaz, the younger brother of Caleb, from whom the Kenizzite line within Judah descended. The preservation of Othniel's descendants in the genealogy honors the memory of Israel's first judge and deliverer. Meonothai appears only in this genealogical notice.
