Meshech

Patriarchs (Abraham–Joseph) Early Patriarch · H4902G
Old Testament

Meshech, a son of Japheth and grandson of Noah, is mentioned in the Table of Nations.

Meshech was a son of Japheth and grandson of Noah, listed in the Table of Nations as an ancestor of peoples in the northern regions (Genesis 10:2; 1 Chronicles 1:5). He is consistently paired with Tubal in the prophetic literature, where the two names designate peoples associated with the regions of Anatolia and the Caucasus (Ezekiel 27:13; 32:26; 38:2–3). Ezekiel employs Meshech and Tubal as symbols of northern, threatening nations that would come against Israel in the latter days. Ancient Assyrian records associate Meshech with the Mushki people of central Anatolia.
