Penuel, a son of Hur and descendant of Judah, mentioned in the genealogy of 1 Chronicles 4.

Penuel was a son of Hur and a descendant of Judah, listed as the founder of the town of Gedor in the hill country of Judah (1 Chronicles 4:4). He belongs to the Calebite and Ephrathite lineages within Judah that are credited with founding various towns in the territorial record of 1 Chronicles 2–4. His name—shared with the famous location where Jacob wrestled with God (Genesis 32:30)—was used as both a place name and personal name in ancient Israel.
