Zillah

Old Testament

Zillah, one of Lamech's two wives, was the mother of Tubal-Cain, the first metalworker, and Naamah.

Zillah was one of the two wives of Lamech, a descendant of Cain in the seventh generation from Adam (Genesis 4:19, 22–23). She was the mother of Tubal-cain, credited with the invention of bronze and iron tools, and of Naamah, the only woman in the Cainite genealogy named beside Eve. Lamech's boastful poem to Adah and Zillah — the 'Song of the Sword' — celebrates vengeance with an intensity that escalates far beyond the provision of Cain's sevenfold protection (Genesis 4:23–24).
