Old Testament

The Zuzim were an ancient people defeated by Chedorlaomer and his allies during Abraham's time.

The Zuzim were an ancient people encountered and defeated by Chedorlaomer and his allies in the campaign preceding the battle of the kings in Abraham's day (Genesis 14:5). They are mentioned alongside the Rephaim and the Emim as pre-Israelite inhabitants of the Transjordanian region who were conquered in the kings' eastward sweep. Some scholars identify the Zuzim with the Zamzummim mentioned in Deuteronomy 2:20 as the pre-Ammonite population of that region, though the equation is not certain.
