'Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out' — the promise to Philadelphia addresses a community known for its instability (Philadelphia suffered frequent earthquakes requiring evacuation) by offering permanent architectural fixity in the divine sanctuary. The three-fold new-name inscription — God's name, the new Jerusalem, Christ's new name — suggests a total reidentification: the overcomer becomes a bearer of divine identity, civic belonging, and christological relationship simultaneously.
