Blessing
God's favor and goodness bestowed upon his people. The Aaronic blessing (Numbers 6:24-26) is iconic: 'The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you.' God blessed Abraham and promised to make him a blessing to all nations (Genesis 12:2-3). The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) redefine blessedness around spiritual realities: poverty of spirit, mourning, meekness, hunger for righteousness. Ephesians 1:3 declares believers 'blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ.' James 1:17 reminds us, 'Every good and perfect gift is from above.' Blessing ultimately flows from relationship with God himself.
