Immutability
The doctrine that God does not change in his being, character, purposes, or promises. Malachi 3:6 declares, 'I the Lord do not change.' James 1:17 describes God as one 'who does not change like shifting shadows.' Hebrews 13:8 extends this to Christ: 'Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.' Numbers 23:19 affirms that God is not a man that he should lie or change his mind. God's immutability provides the foundation for trusting his promises, covenants, and character. While God interacts dynamically with his creation, his essential nature and purposes remain perfectly consistent.
