Sanctification
The ongoing process by which believers are made holy and conformed to the image of Christ. While justification is a one-time declaration, sanctification is progressive — 2 Corinthians 3:18 describes believers being 'transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory.' Philippians 2:12-13 urges believers to 'work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you.' The Holy Spirit is the primary agent of sanctification (2 Thessalonians 2:13), producing fruit such as love, joy, peace, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). 1 Thessalonians 4:3 declares sanctification to be God's will for every believer.
