Ten Commandments
The foundational moral law given by God to Moses on Mount Sinai, inscribed on two stone tablets (Exodus 20:1-17, Deuteronomy 5:6-21). The first four commandments address humanity's relationship with God (no other gods, no idols, no misusing God's name, keep the Sabbath), while the last six address human relationships (honor parents, no murder, no adultery, no stealing, no false witness, no coveting). Jesus summarized them in two great commandments: love God and love neighbor (Matthew 22:37-40). Paul affirmed the commandments are 'summed up in this one command: Love your neighbor as yourself' (Romans 13:9).
