'Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do his will.' This benediction — one of the New Testament's most theologically dense — grounds the request for spiritual completion in the resurrection ('brought again from the dead') and in the 'blood of the everlasting covenant,' linking Jeremiah 31's new covenant promise with the atoning death of Christ. The title 'great shepherd of the sheep' draws from Ezekiel 34:23 and Isaiah 40:11 and anticipates 1 Peter 5:4's 'chief Shepherd' — together shaping the New Testament's pastoral christology.
