Bakbuk was the ancestor of a family of temple servants who returned from exile.
Bakbuk was the ancestor of a family of Nethinim—temple servants—who returned from Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:51; Nehemiah 7:53). The Nethinim were dedicated to assisting the Levites in temple service, performing the more manual tasks required in Israel's worship. His descendants' return to Jerusalem and resumption of temple duties demonstrates the broad reconstitution of the entire worship community after the exile.
