Bakbukiah

Old Testament

Bakbukiah was a Levite who held leadership roles in Jerusalem after the exile.

Bakbukiah was a prominent Levite in post-exilic Jerusalem, listed in Nehemiah 11:17 as second among his brothers who served in worship duties. He also appears in Nehemiah 12:9 among the Levites who led thanksgiving choirs, and in Nehemiah 12:25 as a gatekeeper. His repeated appearances in Nehemiah suggest a figure of recognized authority in the restored Levitical order, contributing to the re-establishment of Jerusalem's worship life.
