Barkos was the ancestor of a family of temple servants who returned from Babylonian captivity.

Barkos was the ancestral name of a family of Nethinim—temple servants—who returned to Jerusalem from Babylonian captivity as part of the great return under Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:53; Nehemiah 7:55). The Nethinim were a dedicated class of temple workers who supported the Levites in their service, and their return alongside priests and Levites was essential to the full restoration of Israel's worship. Barkos's family represents the broader community of service personnel committed to rebuilding the temple's ministry.
