The Dehavites were a people group who opposed the rebuilding of Jerusalem during the time of Ezra.
The Dehavites were one of the peoples listed in a letter to King Artaxerxes opposing the rebuilding of Jerusalem (Ezra 4:9). The term is uncertain: some scholars take it as the name of an ethnic group settled in Samaria by the Assyrians, while others read it as an Aramaic adverb meaning 'that is' or 'namely,' introducing a general designation rather than a specific people. Either way, they appear among the multi-ethnic population of the former northern kingdom that opposed the restoration of Judah.
