Ezbai was the father of Naarai, who served among David's thirty mighty men according to 1 Chronicles 11:37. The parallel list in 2 Samuel 23:35 gives the name as Paarai the Arbite, suggesting a textual variant. Ezbai himself is known only through this patronymic reference, his identity preserved by the honor conferred on his son through membership in David's elite warrior corps.
