Old Testament

Ginath was the father of Tibni, who contended with Omri for the throne of Israel.

Ginath was the father of Tibni, who contested the throne of the northern kingdom of Israel against Omri after the assassination of King Zimri (1 Kings 16:21–22). For several years the kingdom was divided between Tibni's supporters and Omri's faction, until Tibni died and Omri prevailed, founding the dynasty that would include the notorious Ahab and Jezebel. Ginath is known solely as the father of this rival claimant to Israel's throne.
