Harumaph was the father of Jedaiah, who repaired a section of Jerusalem's wall.
Harumaph was the father of Jedaiah, who repaired the section of Jerusalem's wall opposite his own house under Nehemiah's direction (Nehemiah 3:10). The detail that Jedaiah repaired 'opposite his own house' reflects the strategy of assigning workers to sections adjacent to their residences, giving each family a personal stake in the quality of their work. Harumaph is preserved through this patronymic reference to his son's contribution to the rebuilding of Jerusalem.
