Heresh

Exile Tribe of Levi · H2792
Old Testament

Heresh was a Levite who resided in Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile.

Heresh was a Levite who is listed among the residents of Jerusalem following the return from the Babylonian exile, recorded in the genealogical register of 1 Chronicles 9:15. His inclusion in the post-exilic settlement demonstrates the continuity of Levitical families through the period of captivity. Though only his name and tribal affiliation survive in Scripture, figures like Heresh represent the faithful remnant who repopulated the holy city and re-established its worship.
