An innocent animal whose sacrifice points to Christ throughout Scripture. Abel's offering of firstborn lambs found favor with God (Genesis 4:4). The Passover lamb's blood delivered Israel from death (Exodus 12). Isaiah 53:7 prophesied the servant 'led like a lamb to the slaughter.' John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus as 'the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world' (John 1:29). Paul called Christ 'our Passover lamb' (1 Corinthians 5:7). Revelation uses 'Lamb' 28 times for Christ — slain yet victorious (5:6, 12), worshipped by every creature (5:13), and reigning as King of kings (17:14). The lamb is Scripture's most comprehensive symbol of Christ's sacrificial work.
