Abida

Patriarchs (Abraham–Joseph) Sinai · H0028
Old Testament

Abida was a son of Midian and a grandson of Abraham through his concubine Keturah.

Abida was a son of Midian and a grandson of Abraham through his concubine Keturah (Genesis 25:4; 1 Chronicles 1:33). He is listed alongside his brothers Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, and Eldaah as descendants who are understood to represent the tribal groupings of northwestern Arabia and the regions bordering Canaan. The Midianite descendants of Abraham through Keturah were sent eastward to distinguish them from Isaac's covenant line, yet they remained ethnically related to Israel. Abida's name does not appear again in the biblical narrative beyond this genealogical register.
