Abidan

Exodus & Wilderness Tribe of Benjamin · H0027
Old Testament

Abidan, son of Gideoni, was the leader of the tribe of Benjamin during the Israelites' journey through the wilderness.

Abidan son of Gideoni was the appointed leader representing the tribe of Benjamin during the wilderness census and encampment described in Numbers 1–2 and 7–10. He enrolled 35,400 men from Benjamin for military service (Numbers 1:36–37) and presented the tribe's offering at the dedication of the tabernacle on the tenth day (Numbers 7:60–65). His leadership positioned Benjamin on the west side of the tabernacle alongside Ephraim and Manasseh. Abidan represents the organized tribal structure that governed Israel during the formative wilderness years.
