New Testament

Tetrarch Agrippa heard Paul's defense and found no grounds for his imprisonment.

Herod Agrippa II was the son of Herod Agrippa I and the last Herodian ruler to exercise significant authority in Judaea, ruling as tetrarch over various northern territories. In Acts 25–26, he visits the new procurator Festus in Caesarea and agrees to hear Paul's defense. Paul's speech before Agrippa in Acts 26 is the longest and most rhetorically polished of his defenses in Acts, culminating in Agrippa's famous response: 'In a short time would you persuade me to be a Christian?' (Acts 26:28). Both Festus and Agrippa agreed that Paul had done nothing deserving death or imprisonment but could have been released had he not appealed to Caesar. Agrippa later sided with the Romans during the Jewish War of AD 66–70.
