Ahiman was a Levite who served as a gatekeeper during the reign of David.
Ahiman was a Levite who served as a gatekeeper at the South Gate of the temple storehouses during the reign of King David, son of Obed-edom (1 Chronicles 26:17). The organization of Levitical gatekeepers described in 1 Chronicles 26 assigned specific families to specific gates and duties around the sacred precincts. A different Ahiman of much earlier date was one of the three Anakim ('sons of Anak') who lived in Hebron at the time of the Israelite scouts' mission (Numbers 13:22), and was later driven out by Caleb (Joshua 15:14; Judges 1:10).
