Arnan

Arnan was a descendant of Solomon through Zerubbabel, listed in the post-exilic genealogy of the Davidic royal house in 1 Chronicles 3:21. He is mentioned in the third generation after Zerubbabel, in a passage that extends the Davidic line well into the Persian period. The preservation of this genealogical record in Chronicles reflects the ongoing theological importance of Davidic descent for the restoration community, even when the dynasty no longer held political power. Arnan plays no narrative role and is known only from this genealogical reference.
