Old Testament

Carkas was one of the seven eunuchs who served King Ahasuerus.

Carkas was one of the seven eunuchs serving King Ahasuerus of Persia, sent to summon Queen Vashti to appear before the king at his great banquet (Esther 1:10). The queen's refusal to obey the royal summons led to her deposition and the search for a new queen, setting in motion the entire narrative of Esther. Carkas's Persian name reflects the cosmopolitan court of the Achaemenid Empire, where officials of various origins served the king.
