Dumah was a son of Ishmael and grandson of Abraham, mentioned in the genealogies of Genesis and Chronicles.
Dumah was a son of Ishmael and grandson of Abraham and Hagar, listed in the genealogy of Ishmael's twelve sons (Genesis 25:14; 1 Chronicles 1:30). His descendants are associated with the oasis of Dumat al-Jandal (modern al-Jawf) in northwestern Arabia, a significant caravan stop on ancient trade routes. Isaiah 21:11 contains an oracle 'concerning Dumah,' addressed as 'Seir'—probably referring to the Edomite region—illustrating the overlapping geographical associations of the name.
