Hakkatan

Old Testament

Hakkatan was the father of Johanan, a leader who returned to Jerusalem from Babylonian exile.

Hakkatan was the father of Johanan, who led one hundred and ten men of the family of Azgad back to Jerusalem in the second great return under Ezra (Ezra 8:12). His son's group was one of the larger family contingents in Ezra's caravan, and the journey from Babylon to Jerusalem was completed under divine protection after Ezra proclaimed a fast and sought God's guidance. Hakkatan's name means 'the little one,' perhaps a family nickname preserved across generations.
