Old Testament

Hatita was an ancestor of gatekeepers who returned to Jerusalem from Babylonian exile.

Hatita was the ancestor of a family of gatekeepers who returned from Babylonian exile under Zerubbabel, listed in Ezra 2:42 and Nehemiah 7:45. Gatekeepers formed one of the distinct orders of temple personnel whose hereditary duties included guarding the entrances to the sanctuary and maintaining its security. Hatita's family was among the gatekeeper clans who resumed their ancestral responsibilities in the restored temple service.
