Hoshama

Divided Kingdom Tribe of Judah · H1953
Old Testament

Hoshama was a descendant of Jeconiah, the exiled king of Judah, according to the genealogy in 1 Chronicles.

Hoshama was a member of the post-exilic Davidic royal family, listed as a son of Jeconiah (Jehoiachin) in the genealogy of 1 Chronicles 3:18, though the textual relationship to Shealtiel's line involves some complexity. He was a brother of Malchiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jekamiah, and Nedabiah. As a descendant of the exiled king of Judah, Hoshama represents the preservation of the Davidic bloodline through the Babylonian captivity, a lineage that the New Testament genealogies connect to the birth of Jesus.
