Izhar

Izhar was a descendant of Judah, listed in 1 Chronicles 4:7 as a son of Ashhur and Helah among the Judahite clans. He should be distinguished from the more prominent Izhar son of Kohath and grandson of Levi, who was the father of Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri and the uncle of Moses and Aaron (Exodus 6:18, 21; Numbers 3:19). The Levitical Izhar gave his name to the Izharite clan, one of the subdivisions of the Kohathite Levites; the Judahite Izhar mentioned in Chronicles is a separate figure within that tribe's genealogical record.
