Lappidoth

Old Testament

Lappidoth, the husband of Deborah, a prophetess and judge in Israel.

Lappidoth was the husband of the prophetess and judge Deborah, who led Israel in the period before the monarchy (Judges 4:4). He is mentioned only in this single introductory phrase and plays no further role in the narrative of Deborah's leadership or the victory over the Canaanite general Sisera. Some scholars have suggested 'eshet lappidoth' could mean 'woman of torches' or 'fiery woman' rather than a reference to a husband, though the traditional interpretation takes Lappidoth as Deborah's spouse.
