Old Testament

Micaiah (or Micahu), a prophet, foretold the death of King Ahab of Israel in battle against the Arameans.

Micaiah son of Imlah was a prophet in Israel during the reign of King Ahab who became famous for his courageous refusal to offer false prophecy. When four hundred court prophets unanimously predicted victory against Aram, Micaiah alone declared that he had seen Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and that Ahab would fall at Ramoth-gilead (1 Kings 22:8–28; 2 Chronicles 18). His vision of the divine council—including a lying spirit sent to deceive Ahab's prophets—is one of the most theologically significant prophetic narratives in Kings. For his truthful prophecy he was imprisoned, but the events unfolded exactly as he foretold.
